Welcome to Farringdon Community Academy’s website.

There have been some wonderful results for students at Farringdon this year.  66% of students achieved A*-C grades including English & Maths with 76% achieving A*-C grades in English and 75% achieving the same in Mathematics – these represent our best results ever!  Congratulations to the Class of 2016!  Success on this scale is down to partnership and it reflects the strong relationships that we forge with our students and their parents.  Working together we have secured brighter futures for the young people of our community.

Although we are delighted with these performances of these students we have always strived to create a school which supports every child, in every subject, regardless of their ability.  We personalise our curriculum to offer challenge and support whatever level of ability a student may have.  We are therefore delighted that 99% of our students achieved at least 5 GCSE pass grades – that’s inclusion.  It is safe to say that there is something for everybody at Farringdon.

There are so many opportunities for our students.  We have a yearly trip to The Gambia to visit our friends at the Gunjur Project which you can read about on the website.  There are also regular trips to New York, Germany and France as well as lots of more local visits supporting our local community here in Sunderland.

Students’ futures are catered for by an excellent careers programme which starts in Year 7 and includes liaisons with lots of local businesses through our partnership with Work Discovery Sunderland.  By the time our students are ready for their next steps, beyond Farringdon, they are really well prepared!

Our drama, music and dance clubs are thriving and students from Farringdon have performed with distinction at the Sunderland Empire this year as well as on our own stage with a superb performance of “The Wizard of Oz”.  Whatever you want to do, you can do it at Farringdon!
In addition to all this, we have a brilliant newspaper, “Farra News”, which is written by students for students and you can read the latest edition online here.  The “Farra News” is 10 years old this year and we have been celebrating the first decade in the life of the best student newspaper in the world – why don’t you judge for yourself?

I hope that you enjoy finding out about our brilliant school and find our website informative and inspiring.
