Mathematics is at the heart of every day life. It is an essential skill in all walks of life, whether it is used to calculate how much change we expect to get from a £20 note or to plan the trajectory of a space probe to Mars. Maths can provide us with essential life skills, as well as being at the heart of mankind’s more adventurous endeavours and everything in between. In a changing world in which people find skills in the workplace more important than ever, we feel that it is essential to provide these skills and present them in an interesting and relevant way.

It is our aim to:

  • To provide every pupil the skills necessary to be successful in every day life
  • To provide transferable skills that can be used in many subject areas
  • To provide skills to be used in vocational courses
  • To put the skills learned into context so that pupils see the real world relevance of Mathematics
  • To build upon the knowledge of others
  • To provide the opportunity for pupils to learn Mathematical skills from other cultures
  • To give pupils the opportunity to be creative and innovative in Mathematics
  • To allow pupils to use their skills to solve problems
