A select few in Y7 were chosen to go to meet Jenny McLachlan at Sandhill View to find out lots more about the author and her background. She dated back to as far as her childhood and shared a lot of information on what inspired some of her story plots. She also did a quiz to see which of her characters we were most like.
After sharing her life experiences with us, she told us we had to create a story with characters, a plot and how to make a great ending. Everyone chose to end with fireworks! My story plot featured a fortune the main character can get only if he married his enemy. In the end it was found to be a fraud and he married his true love. Jenny encouraged all of us to keep writing with our own personal experiences, because true stories are always the funniest!
Some students in Year 10 visited Eleanor Wood on that afternoon to be inspired to write stories. She explained how she writes her own stories and the best way to write good stories that make you want to read on. She also told them about her upcoming book (the name is not confirmed). She told them to attempt to write stories and to send them to her to improve them.
