BBC News Report 2014 - Survey

A Longer School Day?

Mr Gove, the Head of Education, has announced a proposal to extend the school day to ten hours long.
We carried out a survey on Staff and pupils at Farringdon and 100% of people where strongly against this. Most people did not like this idea as they could not see how this will benefit pupils, one person who filled in the survey anonymously said “I cannot see how this will benefit pupils as they will not be able to concentrate for ten hours, so this will have no impact. I believe a short burst of information will have more impact!” and another person told us that they think it will affect family life. A member of staff has said that school will not be able to afford this change.
Overall Farringdon staff and students would oppose this change strongly…
